Weekly letter May 24

Dear Parents,

These are our last three days together. Please take note of the following information:

  • Tomorrow is Fun Day. Children must wear P.E. uniform. Students will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m. If your child will be riding the bus on this day please send in a written note.
  • On Graduation Day students must be in the classroom by 7:30. Parents please proceed to the gym.
  • Report cards go home today. Please remember to have returned all the books from the library.
  • Remember it is very important to continue reading to your child 10-15 minutes daily over the summer vacation. They are now able to read to you. If you would like me to suggest reading levels do not hesitate to contact me.
  • I can't believe this year is over. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for trusting us with the minds and guidance of your children. It is amazing how much they have grown. We wish you the best!
  • The Virtue of the month is Discipline.

Weekly Letter May 17

Dear Parents,

This is evaluation week. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest. Evaluations will be done with every day activities. Please take note of the following information:

  • Please refer to last week's blog entry for more information on Evaluation week.
  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily.
  • On graduation day, students must report to the classroom by 7:30 a.m. parents proceed to gym.

  • Remember children must wear their complete school uniform on Graduation Day. No sneakers.
  • Please send in copy of deposit slip for graduation money.
  • All library books must be returned by Friday May 21.
  • Graduation tickets will go home on Thursday May 20th.
  • Next Tuesday May 25th is Fun Day! (wear P.E. uniform) Students will be dismissed at 10:45. Children who ride the bus, if your child will be riding the bus on this day please send a written note so we are able to make proper arrangements.
  • The Virtue of the month is Patience.

Review 4th quarter

Dear Parents,

Next week is Evaluation week. The school year is almost over. Please take note of the following information to help you review with your child:

Language: Letters Rr, Vv, Qq, Yy, Zz, Xx. Your Child Should:

  • Name letters. Ex.: Teacher shows the letter "R". Student names the letter.
  • Produce letter sound. Ex.: Teacher names a letter. Student produces the sound of the letter.
  • Identify letter from sound. Ex.: Teacher produces letter sound, student names the letter.
  • Recognize sight words: was, love, as, be, have, little, he, she, down, when, they, are, see, go, do, not, look, at, did, what, with, for, so, get, one, this, then, were, went, him.

Vocabulary:

  • Produce words when given a letter. Ex.: Teacher says "W"; student might say: "wagon", "wall", "wallet", etc.
  • Name pictures of vocabulary words.

    Remember all vocabulary lists are posted here.

Phonemic Awareness:

  • Produce rhyming words. Ex: Teacher says "sad"; student might say: "mad".
  • Write simple words(CVC: consonant, vowel, consonant)
  • Segmentation: Is able to segment sounds to count number of sounds in a word. ( ex: cat – 3)
  • Read word families

Math:

  • Identify solid shapes.
  • Completes a pattern.
  • Count from 1- 50.
  • Constructs a bargraph.
  • Fractions ( halves, equal parts and equal groups)
  • Counts by 5's to 50.
  • Measure weight and capacity.
  • Tell time to the hour.
  • Recognize Honduran coins.
  • Addition to 10.
  • Subtraction from 10.

Please do not tell your child about this evaluation, it will be done in an everyday manner. Make sure he/she gets plenty of rest.

  • Please review with your child 10-15 minutes every day.

Weekly letter May 10

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend! Please take note of the following information:

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily.

  • Student of the week is

  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • Next week is evaluation week. Please do not tell your child about this evaluation. Make sure he/she gets plenty of rest.
  • On Thursday May 13, we will have our First grade orientation. On this day the class picture will be taken. There will be no rescheduling of this picture.
  • Please remember the Lps.40.00 for the cafeteria snack.

  • Remember children must wear their complete school uniform on Graduation Day. No sneakers.
  • The last day to check out books from the library is May 14th. All books must be returned by May 21st. You must be cleared from the library to receive your child's Report Card.

This week we will be learning about:

Language: Review all letters and sounds.

Sight words: went, him.

Phonemic Awareness: Spelling of CVC words.

Math: Review Math concepts.

Social Studies: China.

Dear Parents,

Next week we will have our first grade orientation. Students will have the opportunity to buy a snack in the cafeteria. The cost of this snack is Lps.40.00. Please send exact change.

Kinder Graduation

Estimados Padres de Kinder:

La primera sesión de la graduación de Kinder se llevó a cabo el pasado Jueves 15 de Abril. Se empezó con una discusión general acerca de la graduación. Esta se llevará a cabo el Miércoles 26 de Mayo a las 8:30 a.m. en el auditorio de la escuela. Los alumnos ensayarán para la ceremonia durante horas de clase. Los alumnos deberán usar su uniforme completo para la ceremonia:

Niñas: Jumper, camisa polo del uniforme, calcetines blancos, cortos, sin flecos, zapatos negros ó azul marinos. No tennis.

Niños: Pantalón del uniforme, camisa polo del uniforme, zapatos negros ó azul marinos. No tennis.

Cada alumno tiene derecho a 8 invitados, que incluyen a los padres y hermanos.

Un Fun Day se ha planeado como Fiesta de Graduación y fin de año para el Martes 25 de Mayo. Los alumnos participarán en actividades como salón de belleza, carreras, hale la cuerda, pintado de caras, etc. Meriendas, bebidas y premios serán también parte de esta actividad.

Se formaron comités que se encargarán de las actividades y refrigerios del Fun Day, así como también comités para decorar el gimnasio para la ceremonia de graduación, y buscar los regalos para los alumnos y maestras en la graduación.

Si usted no pudo asistir a la sesión el Jueves pero le gustaría formar parte de estos comités, por favor póngase en contacto conmigo.

Tendremos una segunda sesión el Miércoles 28 de Abril a la 1:00 p.m. en el aula Multiusos del Edificio de Primaria. Cada comité presentará varias opciones para las diversas actividades del Fun Day y del Día de Graduación. Su asistencia es muy importante ya que en esta sesión podrá votar por sus preferencias.

Weekly letter May 3

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend! Please take note of the following information:

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily.

  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • This week and next we will only have new sight words, we finished the alphabet.
  • We will be learning about China, if you have something you would like to share please send it in.
  • Remember children must wear their complete school uniform on Graduation Day. No sneakers.
  • Mom's are invited to join their children during Spanish class on May 7th from 11:20 -12:00
  • P.T.O. Bingo will be Friday, May 7th at 6:00 p.m.
  • From now and till the end of the school year. on students may wear Honduras shirt on Fridays.
