Weekly letter January 4th

Dear Parents,

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Remember school resumes on January 4th.This will be Review week and the week of January 11th -15th is evaluation week. Please take note of the following information to help you review with your child:

Language: Letters M,B,U,I,J,F. Your Child Should:

  • Name letters. Ex.: Teacher shows the letter "M". Student names the letter.
  • Produce letter sound. Ex.: Teacher names a letter. Student produces the sound of the letter.
  • Identify letter from sound. Ex.: Teacher produces letter sound, student names the letter.

Vocabulary:

  • Produce words when given a letter. Ex.: Teacher says "M"; student might say: "mop", "money", "magazine", etc.
  • Name pictures of vocabulary words.

    Remember all vocabulary lists are posted here.

Phonemic Awareness:

  • Identify if 2 words rhyme.
  • Identify ending sound of a given word.
  • Oral Blending .( Teacher says can-dy student says candy)
  • Oral Onset –rime ( teacher says c-at student says cat)

Math:

  • Name shapes.
  • Complete a pattern.
  • Name numbers from 0 – 20.
  • Identify number sequence 0 – 20.
  • Relate numbers 0 – 20 to sets.
  • Write numbers 0 – 20 correctly.
  • Recognizes top/middle/bottom.
  • Construct a pictograph.
  • Count by 10's to 100.

Please do not tell your child about this evaluation, it will be done in a playful manner. Make sure he/she gets plenty of rest.

  • Please review with your child 10-15 minutes every day.
  • Please remember to check the Spanish blog every week.
  • Values: we will learn about staying healthy.
  • Science: We will learn about Dinosaurs. Please send in a toilet paper tube by Wednesday January 6th.
  • If you have any Dinosaur books we could borrow please send them in with your child.

Weekly letter December 14

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend. Please take note of the following information.

  • Please continue reading to your child 10-15 minutes daily throughout the holidays.
  • This week we will not have student of the week.
  • Thank you for your contributions and support to all our Christmas activities.
  • Christmas concert is this Wednesday December 16th. Students must be in their classroom by 5:00p.m. Parents please proceed to the covered courts in front of the cafeteria. Please pickup your child after their presentation in the cafeteria.
  • Remember the outfits for the concert are these. GIRLS: white tights, white long sleeve shirt (preferably turtle neck) red or green skirt and black shoes. BOYS: Black long sleeve t- shirt. (Preferably turtle neck), black pants, black shoes and sunglasses.
  • This same outfit should be worn to school this Friday December 18th.
  • Our presentation for kinder parents will be this Friday at 10:15 on the pre school court. Students will be dismissed at 10:45.
  • Classes will resume Monday January 4th.
  • Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!

Change in concert outfit

Dear Parents,
Please take note that boys will wear a black shirt and not a white shirt for the Christmas concert as posted before. Girls will no longer need the headband. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by these changes.

Weekly letter December 7

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend. Please take note of the following information.

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily. This is homework.
  • Congratulations to our Student of the week Luis Enrique!
  • Friday December 11th is Lps. 5.00 color's Day.
  • If you would like to contribute with the Christmas baskets, please send toilet paper. Thank you for your support.
  • The Christmas concert is around the corner. (December 16th) Please help us get ready for this special day. Children will be asked to wear the following clothes. This week we will be learning about:

Language: Letter Ff, sound, vocabulary and letter recognition.

Phonemic Awareness: Oral blending of onset rhyme. Ex: I say "c – at" student says "cat".

Math:
number 19&20 and the concepts of on/over/under.
