Weekly Letter March 1

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend. Please take note of the following information.

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily. This is homework.
  • Time really flies! Next week is evaluation week. Please refer to the 3rd quarter review post for more information.
  • Congratulations to the student of the week Diego Vaca!
  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • Family Day is this Saturday March 6th from 2-6p.m. Please remember Kinder students will open Family Day marching with their complete school uniform. Please bring your child to the gym at 1:45.
  • Pre school will be in charge of drinks and desserts, if you would like to help please contact our room mothers.(Lucia or Lorena)
  • This week we will be learning about Dr. Seuss if you have any of his books you would like to share please send them in labeled.

This week we will be learning about:

Language: Letter Kk, sound, vocabulary and letter recognition.

Sight words: you, it, some, out.

Phonemic Awareness: Initial sound substitution.(cat, bat, rat etc.)

Math: Measurement (length) using non standard units.

Author study: Dr. Seuss

Review 3rd quarter

Dear Parents,

Next week is Evaluation week. Wow! only one more quarter to go. Please take note of the following information to help you review with your child:

Language: Letters Gg, Ll, Dd, Cc, Nn, Ww, Kk. Your Child Should:

  • Name letters. Ex.: Teacher shows the letter "G". Student names the letter.
  • Produce letter sound. Ex.: Teacher names a letter. Student produces the sound of the letter.
  • Identify letter from sound. Ex.: Teacher produces letter sound, student names the letter.

Vocabulary:

  • Produce words when given a letter. Ex.: Teacher says "W"; student might say: "wagon", "wall", "wallet", etc.
  • Name pictures of vocabulary words.

    Remember all vocabulary lists are posted here.

Phonemic Awareness:

  • Produce rhyming words. Ex: Teacher says "sad"; student might say: "mad".
  • Blending. (Draw a picture of a CVC words with picture) ex: read the word cat and draw a picture of a cat.
  • Oral Blending .( Teacher says "t-e-n" student says ten)


Math:

  • Identify shapes.
  • completes a pattern.
  • Names numbers from 0 – 30.
  • Identify number sequence 20 – 30.
  • Relate numbers 0 – 20 to sets.
  • Write numbers 0 – 30 correctly.
  • Recognizes before/after/between.
  • Reads a bar graph.
  • Addition to 10.
  • Subtraction from 10.
  • Measuring with non standard units.

Please do not tell your child about this evaluation , it will be done in an everyday manner. Make sure he/she gets plenty of rest.

  • Please review with your child 10-15 minutes every day.

Weekly Letter February 22

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend. Please take note of the following information.

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily. This is homework.
  • Congratulations to the student of the week Adriana!
  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • Friday February 26th is Lps. 5.00 Color's Day!
  • Friday is Wig Day! Please allow your child to wear a wig to school.
  • Next week we will be learning about Dr. Seuss if you have any of his books you would like to share please send them in labeled.
  • Progress reports go home today. If your child takes one home, please send it back signed tomorrow.
  • Saturday, March 6th is Family Day from 2-7 p.m. You may find more information on the school's web page. Kinder students will march at 2:00 p.m. with their school uniform to begin Family Day activities.

Language: Letter Ww, sound, vocabulary and letter recognition.

Sight words: Boy, girl, her, there.

Phonemic Awareness: Produce rhyming words. (I say cat, student might say: bat, sat, mat).

Math: Addition to 10 and subtraction from 10 and the concept of before/after/ between.

Science: Animals

Weekly Letter February 15

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day. Please take note of the following information.

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily. This is homework.
  • Congratulations to the student of the week Gabriel Massu!
  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • Show and Tell is every Wednesday. Please help your child choose an object he or she will share. Sharing helps students develop oral language and boost their confidence.
  • Friday February 19th is Necklace Day! Be creative!
  • This week year book pictures will be taken. Our class has been scheduled for Tuesday 16th.
  • Thursday February 18th is Lps.10.00 Color's Day. The funds will be used to help "Relevo por la Vida".

This week we will be learning about:

Language: Letter Nn, sound, vocabulary and letter recognition.

Sight words: Can, we, but, all.

Phonemic Awareness: Review rhyming words. (Identify if two words rhyme.)

Math: Subtraction from 10 and the concept of between.

Science: Animals (Birds and Fish)

Virtue of the Month:

Weekly Letter February 8

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a great weekend. Please take note of the following information.

  • Remember to read to your child 10-15 minutes daily. This is homework. Your child is taking a small book home today. Please allow your child to read it to you. This may be used as the title for one day. Remember to send it back by Friday.
  • This week we will not have student of the week!
  • Please remember it is very important for you to read the blog at least once a week.
  • Show and Tell is every Wednesday. Please help your child choose an object he or she will share. Sharing helps students develop oral language and boost their confidence.
  • February 12th is our Winter Holiday. There will be no school on this day.
  • Remember sight words will be evaluated every Friday. It will be done in a cumulative way, starting with 4 then 8 etc.
  • Please send back your Report Cards signed.
  • We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Thursday. If you would like your child to share Valentine's treats please make sure he/she has one for every child in the class. We suggest you address cards to: My Friend and From: your child's name. We have 27 students.
  • Free color's day February 11th!
  • Operation Smile Bingo is on Thursday 11th at 5:00p.m.

Phonemic Awareness: Written blending. They read the word cat and draw/match a picture.
